Foot surgery— Foot problems in adults and children occur because of many reasons. Commonest Foot problem in children at the time of birth is CTEV (Club foot) and congenital vertical talus (CVT). Foot problems in children can also occur because of shoes, trauma, and infection, congenital neuropathy and spinal problems. Flat foot is also common issues in children, but most of the time it is self-corrective. In adults, foot problems can occur because of trauma, improper shoe wear, arthritis, infection, gout etc. Gout affects the foot, most commonly the joint of the great toe. Ankle and foot arthritis can be part of generalized arthritis. Plantar-fasciitis causes pain in the sole especially heel and retro-calcaneal bursitis affect behind the heel at the insertion of tendo achillis. Painless foot problems don’t need much surgical intervention. Most of the problems of the foot can be managed by exercises, proper shoes wear and some time they need surgical intervention.
